Kids that get plenty of exercise are more likely to be healthy, happy, and successful!

“According to the National Survey of Children’s Health, only 24% of youth ages 6 to 17 engage in at least 60 minutes of physical activity per day, down from 30% a decade earlier. Boys (28%) are more likely than girls (20%) to meet this daily physical activity recommendation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Kids who are physically active are one-tenth as likely to be obese. They’re more likely to go on to college and less likely to suffer chronic diseases.” State of Play Trends and Developments in Youth Sports, 2019.

Programs like gymnastics, tumbling, cheer, and athletic development can play an important role in helping kids build healthy active lifestyles.

  • The best way to have an active lifestyle is to do something that is fun!
  • Kids love flipping, climbing, jumping, and swinging - these natural interests can be channeled into true athleticism!
  • Skill development can lead to high level competition teams within the gym or transfer to other sports outside the gym.

These activities can teach a number of important skills that will carry over into all different types of athletic pursuits later in life:

  • Coordination
  • Strength
  • Flexibility

In addition to these physical skills, athletic programs and teams teach important core values:

  • Hard Work
  • Support
  • Communication
  • Responsibility

The specific activity children engage in is less important than finding something they will enjoy and want to continue doing.
